The pain and symptoms associated with a migraine headache can be so severe it becomes debilitating.

What are the symptoms of a migraine?

It’s common to experience nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to sound and light during a migraine, but they also often have unique additional symptoms.

Leading up to your headache, you might experience an aura. These visual disturbances include halos, blind spots, and flashes of light. A variety of non-visual symptoms can also occur before a headache begins. These might include:

  • Shifts in mood
  • Stiffness in your neck
  • Increased urination and thirst
  • Tingling in your face, fingers, arm, or leg
What causes a migraine?

The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but they’re associated with a variety of factors, including:

  • Stress, both personal and work-related
  • Brain chemical imbalances
  • Hormonal changes in estrogen
  • Foods and food additives
  • Bright lights, loud sounds, and intense aromas
  • Too much or too little sleep
  • Extreme physical exertion

Migraines can affect anyone at any time, but they’re more common in women.

Dr. D' Alessio and her staff are top notch in every way, a rarity in medical offices. Dr. D'Alessio is truly amazing and I am more than thrilled with my experience in the office and the work she did to balance imperfections on my face. I was a long time patient and close friend of NJ's top dermatologist until he died 5 years ago, I never thought I'd find anyone as talented again. I will be using as many services as I can in this office!

Anyone looking to get any of the services done here I will definitely recommend. I drove all the way from Brooklyn, NY that’s how much I recommend it!!!
