VENASEAL™

Minimal discomfort, maximum results.

At Montville MedSpaVenaSeal from Medtronic is another method for effectively treating vascular veins. While radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses heat energy to seal off the vein, VenaSeal utilizes a safe and powerful medical adhesive to seal the targeted veins. By sealing off the vein, blood flow is forced to flow only through healthy vessels.

What is VenaSeal™?

VenaSeal is an FDA-approved treatment that utilizes a medical adhesive to seal off problem veins and reroute blood flow to nearby healthier veins. Benefits of VenaSeal include:

How it Works

The first step when receiving VenaSeal for varicose veins is a thorough evaluation of the leg vessels. Once the entry site is chosen, the area is treated with a local anesthetic to ensure minimal discomfort and a tiny puncture is then made in the skin for the VenaSeal device to be inserted. The FDA-approved adhesive is then delivered along the entire length of the targeted vein to guarantee complete closure.

After approximately 30 minutes, the VenaSeal procedure is complete and patients can resume their normal daily activities with minimal recovery time. Because VenaSeal doesn’t involve heat and only one needle stick is required, the rate of complication is low. VenaSeal also eliminates the need for patients to wear compression stockings after treatment, so they can instantly experience improved confidence.

VENASEAL™ FAQs

The best candidates for this procedure are patients who have symptoms like pain, cramping, swelling, burning, an itchy sensation, or heaviness in their legs. Patients with visible spider or varicose veins may have an underlying vein disease, which would also qualify for VenaSeal.

During VenaSeal treatment, anesthesia is applied to numb the area of the procedure site. A small incision is then made and a small catheter is inserted into the varicose vein with venous insufficiency. Using a medical adhesive solution, the vein is then sealed off. This procedure is minimally invasive and has a quick recovery time.

There is minimal discomfort with this procedure. An anesthetic is used on the procedure area in order to numb the inside of the leg so the patient has no pain. Patients are able to walk and return to their normal activities the same day.

VenaSeal is the latest in vein removal technology and has been shown to reduce discomfort and recovery time. Thspecial vein adhesive used in the procedure seals the vein and only one needle stick is needed to perform the procedure.

VenaSeal is also unique in that compression stockings are not necessary after the procedure. Compared to heat procedures like radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal is less painful and results in minimal bruising. Patients may return to daily activities following the procedure.

Some potential risks include an allergic reaction to the adhesive and phlebitis (vein inflammation). However, due to the minimally invasive technique and reduced recovery time, VenaSeal is a favorable treatment for venous insufficiency.

Because VenaSeal is still a very new technology and procedure, your insurance may not cover it. Give our office a call at (973) 794-3958 to discuss an affordable way for you to receive VenaSeal treatment.
