• Revanesse Versa. The first hyaluronic acid filler to be FDA-approved for dynamic wrinkles and folds, with a plumping effect on fine lines and on the lips themselves.
• Juvéderm Volbella XC and Ultra XC. The softer and the bolder of the practice’s Juvéderm lip fillers, chosen by whether you want a subtle change or visible fullness.
• Where the face moves less. Cheeks, chin and jaw call for structural gels, Juvéderm Voluma XC and Volux XC, and because those areas move far less than lips, the result there tends to last longer.

The step most people have not heard of

Placing the gel is only part of the appointment. Once it is in, your provider molds it by hand so it blends with the surrounding tissue. Then comes animation: you are asked to smile and frown while the area is gently worked, and symmetry is checked from several angles. That is how the filler is fitted to the way your face moves, rather than your face being asked to work around the filler.

Lines that move and lines that stay

Most hyaluronic acid filler replaces volume whose loss leaves creases behind even when your face is resting. Lines made purely by muscle movement, such as frown lines or crow’s feet, are usually the work of Botox or Dysport, and many plans combine the two. Revanesse Versa is the notable exception, approved for wrinkles and folds that move.
