From the valley of red cedars

Cedar Grove owes its name to the eastern red cedars that once covered its valley and hillsides, and the township sits between the First and Second Watchung Mountains in Essex County. It began life in 1892 as Verona Township, took the name Cedar Grove in 1908, and counted 12,980 residents at the 2020 census. Its busiest road, Route 23, also happens to be the most direct way to Montville MedSpa & Pain Center in Towaco.

Up Route 23 and across Lincoln Park

Through the township Route 23 goes by the name Pompton Avenue. Follow it north out of Cedar Grove as far as the turn for Mountainview Boulevard, which leads onto Route 202, the Boonton Turnpike. That road runs across Lincoln Park and into Towaco, where it becomes Main Road, and the practice is at number 624. From the middle of the township the trip is just under ten miles, roughly 16 minutes without traffic.

One visit, a short course, or a longer plan

Treatments here differ a good deal in how much of your calendar they ask for, and that is often the first practical question people have.

The people behind the front desk

The practice belongs to Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, who trained in that specialty at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and now leads both the pain care and the injector team. Nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio and Tanya Santoro give injectables as well, and Tanya specializes in hormone therapy. Facials, lasers and body treatments are in the hands of licensed medical estheticians Kristen Marucci and Shannon Glinsky, Maryann Constantino, LMT is the massage therapist, and patients coming in about their legs meet Ana Marie Heredia-Levi, RVS, RVT, the practice’s vascular technician.

Is there a Saturday appointment? Yes, from 9 in the morning until 1. On weekdays the doors open at 9, except Tuesday, which starts at 10 and carries on until 7; Friday finishes at 4 and the remaining weekdays at 5.
