Hormone Therapy for Men & Women in Montville, NJ
Testosterone and estrogen therapy guided by your own lab work and overseen by a physician you sit down with — Donna D’Alessio, MD. In our Towaco office, in person. Not a website subscription, and not a prescriber in another country you will never meet.
Seen in person
A physician in the room, not a prescriber on a screen
Hormones change how your heart, your blood, your bones and your mood behave. That is worth an examination, a set of labs and a doctor who knows your name — not a checkout page.
Hormone therapy at Montville Medspa
- You are seen at 624 Main Rd in Towaco — a real office, with a waiting room and a door.
- A physician oversees your plan: Donna D’Alessio, MD, board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Lab work comes first. Your dose is set from your own numbers and your history, not from a web form.
- Injections or topical therapy, matched to how you actually live.
- Follow-up labs and in-person reviews, with the dose adjusted as your levels move.
- The same practice looks after your pain, vein and aesthetic care, so nobody is guessing at the rest of your health.
A hormone subscription website
- A questionnaire and, at most, a short video call.
- A prescriber who may be in another state — or another country — and whom you will never meet.
- Nobody has examined you, taken your history in the room, or checked your blood pressure.
- A standard protocol, shipped, then billed again next month.
- When something feels wrong, you get a chat window.
- No one who knows anything else about your health.
Both will send you hormones. Only one of them has met you.
It is not "just getting older"
When hormones drop below the range your body works best in, the symptoms are specific — and they are measurable. If several of these look familiar, testing is the next step.
For women
Perimenopause, menopause and the years after change estrogen and progesterone levels, and the effects reach well past hot flashes.
- Hot flashes, night sweats or broken sleep
- Fatigue and brain fog that rest does not fix
- Mood changes, anxiety or irritability that feel hormonal
- Weight that will not move and muscle tone that is slipping
- Low libido and changes in sexual wellness
- Perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause symptoms
For men
Testosterone falls gradually, so most men put the symptoms down to work, age or stress for years before anyone measures it.
- Flat energy, poor stamina and afternoon crashes
- Muscle mass falling away despite training
- Low libido and reduced performance
- Irritability, low mood or a short fuse
- Brain fog and trouble concentrating
- Low testosterone confirmed by lab testing

The doctor overseeing your plan
Donna D’Alessio, MD
Dr. D’Alessio is the founder of Montville Medspa & Pain Center and is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She trained at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year, after an internship in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate.
Every hormone program at this practice is guided by her — evaluated with lab results and a clinical assessment, not delegated without medical supervision. She is here, at 624 Main Rd, and you can book a consultation and meet her before you decide anything.
How hormone therapy works here
Consultation, in the office
You come in and tell us what changed — the sleep, the energy, the weight, the mood, the sex drive. We take a full health history. This is a conversation with clinicians who can see you, not a form.
Lab work
Hormones are measured before anything is prescribed. The numbers are read alongside your symptoms, because two people with the same result do not always need the same thing.
A plan written for you, overseen by a physician
Dr. D’Alessio oversees the protocol: what to use, at what dose, by injection or topical therapy, and what to expect in the first month. The goal is a normal, functional range — not the highest number we can reach.
Recheck, adjust, keep going
Repeat labs and follow-up visits. Dosing is adjusted on evidence, and if hormone therapy turns out not to be right for you, we say so.
Two delivery methods are offered: injections, for precise and adjustable dosing, and topical creams or gels for flexible daily use.Read the full clinical detail, including benefits, side effects and who is not a candidate.
Questions people ask before they book
Is this telehealth? Will I ever see a doctor?
This is an in-office program in Towaco, New Jersey. You are seen in person, your history is taken in the room, and your plan is overseen by Donna D’Alessio, MD — the physician who owns the practice. We are not a subscription website and your care is not handed to a remote prescriber you will never meet.
Do you treat men as well as women?
Yes. Testosterone replacement for men and estrogen and progesterone therapy for women are both offered, and both follow the same rule: lab work first, physician-overseen dosing, and follow-up testing.
Who actually writes the prescription?
Every hormone plan at Montville Medspa & Pain Center is guided by Dr. D’Alessio, who is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. You can read her background on her page before you ever book.
What forms of hormone therapy do you offer?
Injections, for precise and adjustable dosing, and topical creams or gels for daily use. Your provider will go through which suits your schedule and your preferences at the consultation.
How long before I feel different?
Most patients notice improvements in energy, mood and sleep within two to four weeks. Fuller benefits — libido, body composition, mental clarity — usually develop over two to three months as levels settle into a stable range.
Is hormone therapy covered by insurance?
Coverage varies significantly by plan. Some plans cover lab testing and certain prescription medications; others do not cover compounded preparations. Contact your insurer to confirm, and our team can tell you what to expect out of pocket.
Is it safe? Who should not have it?
Hormone therapy is well tolerated by most patients when it is prescribed and monitored properly, though mild bloating, breast tenderness, skin changes, fluid retention or injection-site reactions can occur early on. It is not right for everyone: a personal or family history of hormone-sensitive cancers, blood clots or certain cardiovascular conditions may rule it out. That is exactly the judgment an exam and a history are for.
Do I have to stay on it forever?
No. Some patients use hormone therapy through a particular phase, such as menopause, and taper off. Others continue long term. Your plan is reviewed regularly and it is your decision, made with the numbers in front of you.
