For the men and women of Butler
Hormone replacement therapy at Montville MedSpa & Pain Center is offered to men and to women. Men whose lab work confirms low testosterone are treated with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Women are treated with estrogen and progesterone therapy in perimenopause, through menopause and in the years afterwards. From Butler the office is about ten miles away: the Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike leads to I-287 south, Exit 47 brings you off onto Main Road (Route 202), and number 624 in Towaco is a short way along, roughly 15 minutes without traffic.
When both of you are wondering
Sometimes the question comes from two people under one roof. One partner has hot flashes and nights broken by sweats; the other has flat energy and a fading drive. Because the program treats both sexes, a couple can be looked after by the same practice. Each person still has their own history taken, their own lab work reviewed and their own plan written, since the hormones involved and the doses are different.
What to bring to your first visit
The consultation is a conversation in the office, and it goes further if you arrive with:
- a short note of what has changed and roughly when it began, whether that is sleep, energy, mood, weight, libido or concentration
- every prescription, over-the-counter medicine and supplement you take
- your family history, especially any hormone-sensitive cancer, blood clots, or heart and blood-vessel conditions, since these can rule therapy out
- any recent blood test results you already have
- a first thought on whether a regular injection or a daily cream or gel would sit better with your routine
After the prescription
Your levels are rechecked with follow-up labs and reviewed in person, and the dose moves when the numbers and your symptoms say it should. In the first weeks some people notice mild bloating, breast tenderness, mood swings, breakouts, fluid retention or a reaction where an injection went in; these tend to settle as dosing is fine-tuned. Energy, mood and sleep are often first to change, within two to four weeks, while libido, body composition and mental clarity usually take two to three months. Some patients stay on therapy long term, and others use it through one stage, such as menopause, then taper off.
Who looks after you
Every plan is overseen by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, the physician who owns the practice and is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Nurse practitioner Tanya Santoro, NP-C earned her Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing at Fairleigh Dickinson University and specializes in hormone replacement therapy, with a particular focus on TRT.
Butler patients ask
Is HRT only a women’s treatment? No. Men with lab-confirmed low testosterone are treated here too, under the same rules: testing first, then rechecking as you go.
What will it cost? That depends on whether you choose injections or a topical, on the dose and on how often you are treated, so your provider sets out the whole cost at the consultation. Payment options are available.
Can I check my symptoms before booking? Yes, with the 30-second hormone quiz.
When can I come in? From 9 on weekdays, or from 10 on Tuesdays, when we stay until 7; Fridays finish at 4, and Saturdays run from 9 to 1.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I have been to see Dr. D'Alessio over the past 5 years. I especially drive for over an hour, she and her whole office are simply the BEST! She has done my leg veins, Botox and now I see her for my GLP weight loss treatments, she is truly AMAZING and CARING! She will work with your insurance and help you find the best course of treatment to bring the cost down, if possible. She is always conservative, attentive, kind and has so much patience when listening to your exact needs. I would never go anywhere else. I trust her and her staff fully!
