Weight-Loss Injections for Butler, NJ

Semaglutide or tirzepatide, with a medical team that keeps checking in — about 15 minutes from Butler, down I-287 to Towaco.

Donna D'Alessio, MD

An easy run for regular check-ins

A weight-loss injection plan is built around regular check-ins, so the journey matters. From Butler, the Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike takes you to I-287; go south to Exit 47, turn right onto Main Road and continue to number 624 in Towaco. It is about ten miles from the middle of the borough, roughly 15 minutes without traffic.

What the medication does, and what it cannot promise

Semaglutide copies GLP-1, a hormone the gut releases after you eat. Tirzepatide works on GLP-1 too, and also on a second hormone receptor called GIP. We offer both, each given as a weekly injection under the skin. How much anyone loses varies widely, and the medication works best alongside eating and activity changes, which is why every plan here pairs it with dietary recommendations and exercise guidance.

Keeping what you want to keep

Any kind of weight loss takes some lean tissue along with the fat. A few habits help protect it:

  • Protein at each meal, to help hold on to muscle while the scale moves.
  • Strength or resistance exercise built into your week.
  • Water sipped through the day, since a smaller appetite often means drinking less as well.
  • A word with your provider about hair. Thinning has been reported after fast or significant weight loss of any kind, including in people taking semaglutide.

When to call rather than wait

Most side effects are digestive and ease with time. A few symptoms should be reported promptly:

  • severe stomach pain that will not go away, sometimes spreading to the back
  • pain in the upper right abdomen with fever, or yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • very little urine, dizziness or extreme thirst, which can signal dehydration
  • swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat; trouble breathing needs emergency services straight away
  • changes in your vision, particularly if you have type 2 diabetes
  • shakiness, sweating or confusion if you also take insulin or another medicine that lowers blood sugar

Butler patients ask

Is it a medicine I stay on for good? It is usually treated as a long-term medication. In follow-up studies, many people regained a good share of the weight they had lost within a year of stopping semaglutide, so staying on, adjusting or stopping is decided together with your provider.

Should I mention breastfeeding or a planned pregnancy? Yes. Semaglutide is not used in pregnancy, so tell your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to conceive.

Which of the two medications is right for me? That is settled at your consultation, once your health, goals and history have been reviewed. Our side-by-side guide, semaglutide vs. tirzepatide, explains how they differ.

When are you open? Monday through Saturday, with appointments until 7 pm on Tuesdays.
