Fifteen minutes from Butler

Interstate 287 runs just outside Butler’s borough line, and it does most of the work of getting here. From Main Street, follow the Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike east to the I-287 ramp, head south toward Morristown and leave at Exit 47 for Route 202. Turn right onto Main Road; our office at number 624 is a little over a mile and a half along. The whole trip is about ten miles, roughly 15 minutes without traffic.

A treatment with a long track record

Botox has been used as a cosmetic treatment for more than 20 years. It first received FDA approval for that purpose in 2002, having originally been developed to treat eyelid spasms and excessive sweating. Dysport comes from the same family, botulinum neurotoxin type A, and works by the same mechanism. The two differ in formulation and in how they spread, which is why your injector may prefer one over the other for a particular area.

Forehead lines, the “11s” between the brows and crow’s feet are where most people start. Depending on your goals, a neurotoxin can also be placed in less obvious spots:

• Bunny lines, the small creases that form along the nose.

• Lip lines, the fine lines that gather around the mouth.
• Neck bands, known medically as platysmal bands.

Keeping results going

A treatment usually holds for about three to four months, with the exact span depending on the area, the product and how quickly your body processes it. Rather than topping up early, most specialists advise leaving at least three months between touch-ups. With regular maintenance the interval can lengthen, because muscles that are relaxed again and again become conditioned to stay that way. Dr. D’Alessio sets the standard all three follow, from the consultation and facial assessment to product choice, technique and follow-up. Amy was trained by Allergan, the maker of Botox, as well as by Merz and Galderma. Tanya’s background in emergency medicine, cardiology and primary care means her appointments begin with a full health history.
