Starting close to home
The early months on a weight-loss injection are a build-up with regular check-ins, so the distance to your provider matters more than it would for a one-off visit. From Pompton Plains or the Pequannock end of the township, follow the Boulevard to Jacksonville Road and stay on it until Main Road in Towaco. It is five to six miles, nine or ten minutes without traffic, to our office at 624 Main Road.
Before the first dose
Everything starts with a consultation, where our medical team reviews your health, history and goals and decides whether semaglutide, tirzepatide or neither suits you. If one does, it is worth recording a starting point that is more than a single number:
- your weight on day one
- a waist measurement, if you like
- a photo, because progress shows up in more places than the scale
- a realistic aim for the first three months, such as new eating habits, rather than one target figure
Month by month
The outline below follows a typical semaglutide start. Tirzepatide also begins low and rises in steps, and either way your own provider sets the schedule.
Weeks 1 to 4. This month is about routine. The injection goes under the skin once a week, so pick a day that is easy to remember. Many people feel full sooner and think about food less, though some notice little at the starting dose, and mild nausea or a change in digestion is common. Weight loss in these weeks is often modest, and that is expected.
Weeks 5 to 8. The first dose increase often comes now. Side effects can flare for a few days after a step up and then settle; if they do not, tell your provider rather than skipping doses. It is a good time to build meals around protein, vegetables, fruit and whole grains, and to keep drinking water.
Weeks 9 to 12. By now the routine usually feels normal, and many people are still stepping up. A check-in looks at your appetite, how well you are tolerating the medication, your measurements and whether anything should change. These three months lay the foundation; they are not the finish line.
Pequannock patients ask
Why not start on the full dose? A low start, raised gradually, gives your body time to adjust and keeps side effects manageable. Your provider sets the pace and can slow it down.
What if I miss an injection? Follow the medication’s instructions or call your provider. Never double up to catch up.
When can I come in? Weekdays, with Tuesday hours until 7 pm, plus Saturday mornings from 9 to 1.
For more detail, read what to expect in your first 3 months on semaglutide, the weight-loss injections page, or our Pequannock Township page.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I have been to see Dr. D'Alessio over the past 5 years. I especially drive for over an hour, she and her whole office are simply the BEST! She has done my leg veins, Botox and now I see her for my GLP weight loss treatments, she is truly AMAZING and CARING! She will work with your insurance and help you find the best course of treatment to bring the cost down, if possible. She is always conservative, attentive, kind and has so much patience when listening to your exact needs. I would never go anywhere else. I trust her and her staff fully!
