At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center there are two broad routes, and they differ less in where they go than in how quickly the change arrives. One places a gel that gives shape the moment it is in. The other places something that asks your own body to rebuild collagen, so the improvement creeps in over weeks and months. Which suits you depends on your face, your timetable and how you feel about a visible overnight change.

The same-day route: hyaluronic acid filler

Most of the practice’s filler work uses FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) gels from the Juvéderm range, RHA and Revanesse Versa. HA is a sugar your skin already makes, and it binds water, so it adds volume and a little hydration together. You see a difference before you leave, and the settled result once swelling has gone, usually within days to two weeks. Most HA fillers last 6 to 18 months, less in the lips and more in the cheeks and jaw, and an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve the gel if anything ever needs correcting.

The slow route: collagen stimulators

• Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable material. Placed beneath the skin of areas such as the cheeks, temples, jawline and the folds beside the mouth, it prompts collagen to form, and the result develops over weeks and months. It is usually given as a series of sessions a few weeks apart, each taking roughly 30 to 45 minutes and finished with massage to spread it evenly. After a full course, the practice describes results lasting up to two years or longer.
• Hyperdilute Radiesse is Radiesse, calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in gel, mixed with extra saline and laid in a fine layer. It is aimed at thin, crepey or loose-looking skin rather than at shape. In April 2026 the FDA approved Radiesse diluted one to two for wrinkles of the décolleté in adults 22 and older.

Choosing between them

• A date on the calendar, such as a wedding, points toward HA filler, since its result is visible straight away.
• A wish to change quietly, with no sudden difference for anyone to notice, suits the collagen builders, whose effect arrives gradually.
• Skin quality rather than contour usually means hyperdilute Radiesse.
• Combining them is common, and your provider will suggest an order.

Sculptra is not for everyone. It is avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a history of keloids or raised scarring, or where the skin is infected or inflamed, and an autoimmune condition affecting the skin needs discussing first.

Every filler plan here runs under the supervision of Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, a physician trained in facial anatomy and vascular safety. Nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio and Tanya Santoro inject to her standard, and one provider stays with you from consultation to follow-up.
