Matching the gel to the movement

The fillers the practice primarily uses are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA), yet each one is formulated to behave differently once it is in place.

• The busiest parts of the face. RHA, short for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid, is pliable enough to flex with expression while keeping its effect, which is why it suits areas in constant motion.
• Lines that appear as you move. Revanesse Versa was the first HA filler FDA-approved for dynamic wrinkles and folds, and it also plumps fine lines and lips.
• Structure where the face moves least. Juvéderm Voluma XC in the cheeks and Volux XC along the chin and jaw give firmer support, and because these areas move less they hold filler longest; Voluma can last up to 18 to 24 months in the cheeks.

Tested in motion before you leave

Once the gel is placed, your provider models it by hand so it blends into the surrounding tissue. Then comes the step that matters most for a moving face: you are asked to smile and frown while the area is gently worked, and symmetry is checked from several angles. The point is volume that keeps up with your expressions instead of sitting against them.

Movement and how long it lasts

Most HA fillers last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the product, the area and your own metabolism. The lips, which hardly ever rest, break filler down fastest and need upkeep most often, while the cheeks and jawline keep it longest. A fine-tuning visit every four to six months, with a full touch-up every nine to twelve, is a common rhythm.

When the muscle is the problem

Some lines are cut by a muscle pulling rather than by volume going missing, and for those, relaxing the muscle with Botox or Dysport is the better answer. Plenty of faces need a little of each, and the two can be planned together.

Every filler treatment is supervised by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, whose training as a board-certified physician covers facial anatomy and vascular safety. The drive
