Shine, congestion and pores you can see
Oily skin comes with its own list of complaints. It shines by the middle of the day, blackheads gather around the nose and chin, makeup slides off, and the pores across the cheeks look bigger than they used to. Scrubbing harder at home rarely helps. At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center a licensed medical esthetician begins by working out what kind of oily you are, whether that is oily all over, combination, or breaking out as well, and then builds a plan from the treatments below.
Clearing out the pores
- HydraFacial. After a machine-assisted cleanse and gentle exfoliation, vacuum extraction tips pull out the sebum and debris lodged in your pores before serums are infused. Clearing them on a regular basis helps pores look smaller over time, it suits oily and combination skin, and there is no downtime.
- The acne facial with blue light. Targeted extractions for blackheads and whiteheads and a purifying clay mask, followed by blue light, which the practice uses to help keep oil production in check and to calm the bacteria behind breakouts.
- The Bro Facial. On the facials menu for thicker skin: steam, a deep brushing exfoliation and extractions aimed squarely at clogged pores.
- The Montville Facial. Fully customizable, with extractions, peels and masks chosen for your skin on the day.
Working beneath the surface
Pores also look larger when the skin around them loses some of its firmness, and that is treated deeper down.
- Laser Genesis gently warms the dermis to stimulate collagen, and the practice names enlarged pores and oily skin among the concerns it suits, along with sun damage and fine lines. Most people feel a pleasant warmth that can linger for about half an hour, with no recovery time. Four to six sessions is the average course, and very dark skin tones may not be suitable candidates.
- Microneedling opens fine channels in the skin that prompt new collagen, for rough texture and the marks that old breakouts leave.
Between appointments
Results hold longer when skin is cared for at home. Shannon Glinsky builds routines from medical-grade lines such as ZO Skin Health, SkinCeuticals and SkinMedica, and Kristen Marucci, a skincare specialist for more than 20 years, starts every plan from a close look at your skin type. Laser work at the practice is overseen by its founder, Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD.
Down the road from Little Falls
Little Falls is crossed by both Route 46 and Route 23, and the second is the one you want: follow it north, take Mountainview Boulevard to Route 202 and carry on through Lincoln Park to Main Road in Towaco. It is about eight miles, roughly 14 minutes without traffic, to our office at 624.
Little Falls clients ask
Can pores really get smaller? Keeping them clear and firming the skin around them can make them look smaller, and your esthetician will be straightforward about what to expect for your skin.
How often should I come in? That depends on the treatment. Laser Genesis is booked as a course, while a HydraFacial can be repeated regularly; the practice has written about the benefits of a monthly HydraFacial.
Are you open on Saturdays? Yes, from 9 am until 1 pm.
Every option is listed on the MedSpa services page, and current promotions are on the special offers page.
Testimonials
What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
We drive over 50+ miles to come see Kristen, particularly. I can’t say enough good things about her, the results, and the experience she makes when we come into this spa. Thank you for always going the extra mile for my two daughters and making us feel like we are at home away from home after having such a long drive. Definitely worth the money and the trip! The staff is also always very friendly, allowing me to switch appointments when I need to, and they are always so kind when I call. I am a picky customer, it is hard to make me happy. Definitely recommend this MedSpa!
