Massage Therapy for Boonton, NJ

Swedish, deep tissue or lymphatic drainage, planned around how your body feels that day — a short drive up I-287 from Boonton.

Donna D'Alessio, MD

Massage inside a medical practice

Montville MedSpa & Pain Center is a physician-led practice, and massage here sits alongside pain care, MedSpa treatments and wellness under one roof. If you are already being seen for pain management, whether for a stiff neck or a sore back, massage can be added to that care in the same office. Sessions are with Maryann Constantino, LMT, a licensed massage therapist with a holistic, therapeutic focus, who listens first and adjusts pressure and technique as she works.

Three massages, three different jobs

  • Swedish, 60 or 90 minutes. Long, flowing strokes and gentle pressure to settle the nervous system and help circulation, so you leave loose rather than worked over. A good choice for a first massage.
  • Deep tissue, 60 or 90 minutes. Slower, targeted work into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, for chronic tightness, stiffness or recovery from injury. Feeling a little sore for a day or so afterwards is normal.
  • Lymphatic drainage, 60 minutes. Gentle, rhythmic work that may help reduce swelling and support recovery after certain surgeries, when it is appropriate for you.

Adding to a session

Add-ons, at an additional cost, let you shape the time on the table: hot stones to warm tight muscles, a craniosacral scalp massage for the head, neck and spine, reflexology on the feet, Reiki, a CBD oil massage, or 30 minutes of trigger point therapy for one stubborn knot.

Getting here from Boonton

Boonton borders Montville Township, so the drive is short: I-287 north to Exit 47, then Route 202 into Towaco. Arrive a few minutes early so the paperwork does not eat into your session, drink some water beforehand, and skip a big meal right before you come.

Boonton clients ask

Swedish or deep tissue, which should I book? If stress is the main problem and nothing in particular hurts, Swedish. If one spot keeps nagging, such as a neck that will not turn or a lower back that locks up after a weekend of chores, deep tissue. Our guide to Swedish versus deep tissue massage goes further.

What should I tell my therapist first? Any medical conditions, recent injuries or surgeries, and the areas that bother you, so the session can be planned around them. It matters most for deep tissue: if you take a blood thinner, have had a blood clot, are pregnant or have osteoporosis, say so before you start.

Can massage help with pain? It may help reduce muscle tension and discomfort for some people. The right approach depends on what is causing the pain, which is one reason it helps to have a pain practice in the same building.

Is lymphatic drainage a good idea after surgery? It may help with swelling and recovery, and an individual assessment decides whether it is right for you.
