Build the session around what you need
Massage therapy at Montville MedSpa & Pain Center starts with one of three treatments: a Swedish massage of 60 or 90 minutes for relaxation, deep tissue work of 60 or 90 minutes for tension that has settled into the deeper layers of muscle, or a 60-minute lymphatic drainage massage, gentle and rhythmic, which may help with certain kinds of swelling. What many Fairfield clients do not realize is how far the hour can be tailored after that. Each add-on carries an additional cost, and each does a different job.
The add-ons, one by one
- Scalp massage (craniosacral therapy). Attention goes to the head, neck and spine to release tension. It suits people who hold stress there, and anyone troubled by headaches or a stiff neck.
- Trigger point therapy, 30 minutes. Focused pressure on the tight knots within one muscle group, aimed at localized pain and repetitive strain, which is why athletes ask for it. It can sit inside a Swedish massage when only one spot needs firm work.
- Reflexology. Pressure applied to specific points on the feet, which the practice describes as corresponding to organs and systems of the body; most people simply find it calming.
- Reiki. A gentle, energy-based technique, often combined with massage, for relaxation and emotional release.
- Hot stones. Smooth, heated stones warm tight muscles so they let go more readily, and the warmth helps circulation.
- CBD oil. Hemp-derived CBD oil worked into the massage, for clients who enjoy an extra layer of calm.
Who you will see
Sessions are with Maryann Constantino, LMT, the practice’s licensed massage therapist, whose approach is holistic as well as therapeutic. Because she works inside a physician-led pain center, a client whose neck or back keeps flaring up can also be seen for pain management without going anywhere else.
Why make it a habit
The benefits the practice lists for regular massage reach beyond the day itself: less stress and anxiety, relief from chronic muscle tension, better sleep and circulation, support for immune function, and more mobility and flexibility. A standing appointment is far easier to keep when the office is close by.
Fairfield clients ask
How long is the drive? About 13 minutes without traffic, and no highway is needed. From Hollywood Avenue, follow Horseneck Road to Pine Brook Road and head north; Whitehall Road then delivers you to Main Road in Towaco.
Can I choose more than one add-on? Yes. The menu allows one or more add-ons in a session, each priced on top of the massage itself.
What does a massage cost? It depends on the type of massage, its length and any add-ons you choose. The office can give you current pricing and package options.
Is there a weekend slot? Saturdays, between 9 am and 1 pm.
