The first decision is how long
Booking a massage at Montville MedSpa & Pain Center means two choices: which kind, and how long. The second one gets less thought than it deserves. Swedish and deep tissue sessions can be booked at 60 or 90 minutes, while lymphatic drainage runs 60. The extra half hour changes what fits into the session.
When an hour is enough
- A first visit. An hour is a sensible way to find out what pressure and style you like.
- Lymphatic drainage. This gentle, rhythmic massage is offered as a 60-minute session. It may help with certain kinds of swelling and with recovery after surgery, where that is appropriate.
- One area that needs attention. An hour leaves room to concentrate on the neck and shoulders, or the lower back, without hurrying.
When ninety minutes earns its place
- Deep tissue work on several areas. Deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue take time to reach properly, and the extra half hour lets more than one area get that attention.
- A full-body Swedish massage with nothing cut short. Long, flowing strokes are meant to calm the nervous system; that works better without watching the clock.
- Adding an extra. Scalp massage, reflexology, Reiki, hot stones or CBD oil can be worked into the session at an additional cost. Trigger point therapy for stubborn knots is a 30-minute add-on of its own.
Your therapist
Sessions are given by Maryann Constantino, the practice’s licensed massage therapist, who shapes each one around how your body feels that day. Before you start, mention any medical conditions, recent injuries, surgeries or sore spots, so the session can be planned around them.
When it is more than a tight muscle
This is a pain center as well as a MedSpa, led by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. If an ache keeps returning however often it is massaged, the practice’s pain management team can look at what is behind it, in the same office.
Driving over from Montclair
Bloomfield Avenue to Route 23 north, then Route 202 through Lincoln Park to 624 Main Road in Towaco: about 12 miles. Go easy on a big meal beforehand, and come a few minutes early to fill in any paperwork.
Montclair clients ask
What should I wear? Comfortable clothing. Drink water beforehand and arrive a little early.
Is there a weekend option? Saturdays, from 9 am to 1 pm. On Tuesdays we are open until 7 pm.
Which is better for pain, Swedish or deep tissue? It depends on the cause. Persistent stiffness that limits movement tends to suit deep tissue, while tension from stress often suits Swedish. Your therapist can advise.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I had an incredible experience with Nurse Practitioner - Tanya at Montville MedSpa! From the moment I walked in, the office staff and Tanya made me feel completely at ease. She took the time to explain everything, answered ALL my questions (I had a LOT), and made sure I felt comfortable before proceeding with my first treatment. Her technique is gentle and precise — I barely felt a thing! The results are exactly what I was hoping for: natural, refreshed, and subtle. I truly appreciate her professionalism, skill, and warm demeanor. Highly recommend Nurse Practitioner Tanya at Montville MedSpa to anyone considering Botox — you’ll be in amazing hands!
