A first treatment is a trial, not a commitment
If you have put off trying Botox because you worry it cannot be undone, here is the reassuring part. Botox and Dysport do not stay. Your body breaks the product down over the following months and the muscle gradually works as it did before, which is why the practice describes neurotoxin treatment as one of the most controllable options in aesthetic medicine. A first appointment is a chance to see how your face responds, then decide.
How to judge your own result
The effect arrives in stages, so do not judge it in the mirror the next morning.
- Days three to five. The first softening shows, but the treatment is still settling.
- Days ten to fourteen. The full effect is in place. This is the moment to ask yourself whether the change is the one you wanted.
- Around three to four months. Movement returns gradually, and lines start to come back as they were.
If you would like a little more or a little less next time, say so. The product, the dose and the exact points can all be adjusted, because placement is planned around your own muscles rather than a set template.
Keeping the first visit simple
A first visit can be kept to one familiar area rather than several: the horizontal forehead lines, the vertical “11s” between the brows, or the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes. The injections themselves take around ten to twenty minutes, a fine needle is used, and most people describe it as a brief pinch. Afterwards you can go back to your day; the one firm instruction is to leave the treated area unrubbed for 24 hours. Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol for up to a week beforehand is advised, though anyone taking a prescribed blood thinner should ask their own doctor first.
Who places it
All neurotoxin treatment here is reviewed and overseen by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, the practice’s founder, board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Injections are also given by nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio and Tanya Santoro, working to her standard.
Getting here from Montclair
Bloomfield Avenue to Route 23 north, then Route 202 through Lincoln Park to 624 Main Road in Towaco: about 12 miles.
First-timers from Montclair ask
Botox or Dysport — which one for a first try? Both are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products that work the same way but differ in formulation and in how they spread. Your injector recommends one for your face.
What if I do not like it? It wears off. Nothing about a first treatment is permanent.
Is anyone too young? Treatment is for adults aged 18 and over.
Can I come in after work? On Tuesdays, yes; we are open until 7 pm.
