From the floor up
A massage does not have to start at the neck and shoulders. Some people carry their week lower down: calves that feel tight at the end of a shift, feet that ache after a day standing at a counter or a classroom board, legs that feel heavy by evening. A session at Montville MedSpa & Pain Center can start there instead.
Three ways to spend the hour on your legs
Deep tissue. Firmer, slower work into deep muscle and connective tissue, for calves and thighs that stay stiff, or for anyone whose work makes the same physical demands day after day. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes.
Reflexology. An add-on in which pressure is applied to particular points on the feet. The practice describes it as a relaxing treatment that eases stress, which makes it a gentle way to close a session spent on tired legs.
Lymphatic drainage. A gentle, rhythmic 60-minute massage that encourages lymph fluid to move. The practice suggests it for certain kinds of swelling and fluid retention, and for recovery after some surgical procedures, once an assessment has shown it is appropriate for you.
Hot stones can be added to warm and relax tight muscle, and a Swedish massage remains the choice when what you mostly want is to unwind.
When the heaviness is in the veins
Legs that ache and feel heavy are not always a muscle problem. Montville MedSpa & Pain Center also treats veins, and its own vein page links tired, achy legs, swelling, restlessness and leg fatigue to venous insufficiency, in which damaged veins let blood flow poorly. If your legs ache or feel heavy most days, or you can see bulging or spider veins, mention it. A vein evaluation with Ana Marie Heredia-Levi, RVS, RVT, the practice’s vascular technician, under Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, can answer the question a massage cannot. New swelling, especially in one leg only, is something to raise with a doctor before booking any massage.
Your therapist
Maryann Constantino, LMT, the practice’s licensed massage therapist, listens first and adjusts pressure and technique as she goes, aiming for you to leave both more relaxed and moving more easily. Before you start, tell her about recent injuries, surgeries or any medical condition. Comfortable clothing, water beforehand and a light stomach make the hour easier.
Driving down from North Haledon
The borough has no highway of its own, so take Belmont Avenue south through Haledon, Union Avenue to Route 46, Route 23 north and then Route 202 through Lincoln Park to 624 Main Road. That is about 24 minutes without traffic.
North Haledon clients ask
Can I combine reflexology with deep tissue work? Yes. Add-ons, which cost extra, are folded into the session you book.
Is lymphatic drainage a good idea after surgery? It may support recovery after certain procedures, but an individual assessment comes first.
What days can I come? Monday through Saturday, with Tuesday hours until 7 pm and Saturday mornings from 9 to 1.
The massage therapy page lists every session and add-on.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I have been to see Dr. D'Alessio over the past 5 years. I especially drive for over an hour, she and her whole office are simply the BEST! She has done my leg veins, Botox and now I see her for my GLP weight loss treatments, she is truly AMAZING and CARING! She will work with your insurance and help you find the best course of treatment to bring the cost down, if possible. She is always conservative, attentive, kind and has so much patience when listening to your exact needs. I would never go anywhere else. I trust her and her staff fully!
