After a day on your feet
Desk work gets most of the attention when people talk about tension, yet plenty of jobs keep you standing: classrooms, hospital floors, shop counters, kitchens and salons. By the end of a shift the soles of the feet are sore, the calves feel tight and heavy, and the lower back has taken its share too. A massage at Montville MedSpa & Pain Center can be planned around that lower half of the body, and Maryann Constantino, LMT, the practice’s licensed massage therapist, shapes the session around what you tell her when you arrive.
Putting the session together
- Swedish, 60 or 90 minutes, when the whole body is tired rather than one spot. Long, flowing strokes and gentle pressure encourage circulation and help you unwind.
- Deep tissue, 60 or 90 minutes, when the calves, hamstrings or lower back stay tight from one week to the next. The work goes slowly into deeper muscle and connective tissue, and the longer booking leaves time for both legs and the back.
- Reflexology, an add-on. Pressure applied to specific points of the feet, which the practice offers for balance and stress relief; a natural fit for feet that have carried you since morning.
- Hot stones, an add-on. Smooth, heated stones warm stiff muscles so they give way more easily.
- Lymphatic drainage, 60 minutes. A gentle, rhythmic massage that may help with certain kinds of swelling or fluid retention, once an individual assessment says it suits you.
Add-ons are an additional cost, and more than one can share a session.
When heavy legs are about veins, not muscles
Tired legs are not always a muscle problem. Aching, heaviness, fatigue or burning in the legs can be signs of venous insufficiency, which develops when the valves inside the veins weaken, and the practice notes that damaged veins can bring swelling, restlessness and leg fatigue. A massage cannot reach that cause. Montville MedSpa & Pain Center also treats veins: Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD diagnoses the root cause with an examination, your history and imaging where needed, working with vascular technician Ana Marie Heredia-Levi, RVS, RVT, and treatments include sclerotherapy, Varithena and radiofrequency ablation. Before you lie down
Tell Maryann about any recent injury or surgery and any medical condition. A blood-thinning medicine, a past blood clot, a pregnancy or osteoporosis each changes how firm the pressure should be, so mention them first. Drink some water during the day, keep the meal beforehand light, and come a few minutes early for the paperwork.

Verona clients ask
Will deep tissue leave my legs sore? A little soreness for a day or so is normal, much like after a hard workout, so avoid booking it the day before a long shift if you can.
Can I book a session after work? On Tuesdays, until 7 pm, and on Saturday mornings from 9 to 1.
How is the price set? By the massage, its length and any add-ons; the front desk can give current prices and packages.
The whole menu is on the massage therapy page, and Swedish or deep tissue: which should you book? helps you choose.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I have been to see Dr. D'Alessio over the past 5 years. I especially drive for over an hour, she and her whole office are simply the BEST! She has done my leg veins, Botox and now I see her for my GLP weight loss treatments, she is truly AMAZING and CARING! She will work with your insurance and help you find the best course of treatment to bring the cost down, if possible. She is always conservative, attentive, kind and has so much patience when listening to your exact needs. I would never go anywhere else. I trust her and her staff fully!
