Plan by the downtime you can spare
Most MedSpa visits start with a concern: dull skin, sun spots, a bulge that ignores the gym. A second question matters nearly as much, and it is easy to forget until the week of a party or a trip. How many days can you give the treatment? Here is how the practice’s own treatments line up, from nothing to recover from to a few quiet days.
Straight back to your day
- HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates, and a healthy glow is visible as soon as the session ends, with no irritation to wait out.
- BroadBand Light (BBL), Sciton’s light treatment for sun spots, freckles and redness, has little or no downtime; aftercare is mostly sunscreen and gentle products.
- CoolSculpting freezes stubborn pockets of fat. Some numbness, redness or light bruising can follow, but you carry on as normal.
- Venus Legacy tightens skin and smooths cellulite with radiofrequency, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes with no recovery.
- Laser hair removal may leave some redness or swelling that is usually gone within hours.
Worth a day or two
- Microneedling leaves redness rather like a mild sunburn that fades over a few hours to a couple of days, and a brighter, more even look often appears as it settles.
- The PRP “vampire” facial pairs microneedling with platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood.
- A PDO thread lift lets most people return to normal activities in one to two days, though strenuous exercise waits a week.
Give it the better part of a week
- MOXI, Sciton’s fractional laser for sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines and texture, has most people back to their daily routine within three to five days.
Who carries out the work
Your facial, laser session or body treatment is carried out by a licensed medical esthetician. Kristen Marucci has more than twenty years as a skincare specialist, and Shannon Glinsky has worked in plastic surgery offices as well as MedSpas. The practice’s lasers and PRP treatments are overseen by its founder, Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD.
The drive from Kinnelon
Kinnelon borders Montville Township, but the borough covers a lot of ground, so starting points vary. From the Route 23 side it is roughly 15 minutes without traffic; from Smoke Rise, in the west of the borough, allow about 25.
Kinnelon patients ask
Which treatment should I book first? Start with a consultation and bring any date you are working toward. Your esthetician begins with your skin type and what you want it to do, which is why a bride six weeks out and someone treating years of sun damage leave with different plans.
How often would I come back? It depends on the treatment. Venus Legacy maintenance may be every one to three months, while with CoolSculpting, extra sessions four to six weeks apart can add to the result, followed by a yearly maintenance visit.
Are you open at weekends? On Saturdays, from 9 am to 1 pm.
