Renewing the skin, from gentle to deep
Rough texture, enlarged-looking pores, fine lines and the marks acne leaves behind all live in the skin itself, not in the volume underneath it. At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center they are treated with a ladder of options that begins gently and goes deeper, so a plan can start where your skin actually is rather than with the strongest tool on the shelf.
The ladder
- PRX, with no needles at all. A gel that combines trichloroacetic acid (TCA) with hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid is massaged into the skin by hand. It works beneath the surface, giving the refresh of a peel with little or no visible peeling, and most people feel only a mild tingling or warmth.
- Microneedling with a pen, needles without heat. Fine sterile needles open thousands of tiny channels, and the skin answers by making new collagen and elastin. Under numbing cream, most people feel light pressure or a mild scratching.
- Vivace RF microneedling, needles with heat. Thirty-six gold-plated needles carry radiofrequency energy deeper into the skin, for tightening as well as renewal. Patients often liken the feeling to a hot stone massage. Vivace treats the body too: the abdomen, arms, flanks, thighs, bra line and buttocks.
- Your own plasma on top. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), spun from a small sample of your blood, can be applied while the skin is being microneedled, either with Vivace or in the PRP “vampire” facial.
What a course looks like
Plan on a course rather than a single visit: most people need three to six sessions, four to six weeks apart, then one maintenance session a year. Afterwards the skin is usually pink, rather like after a day outdoors, and it settles within hours or a couple of days; gentle cleansing, moisturizer and steady sun protection help while it rebuilds. With Vivace, improvements in fine lines, laxity and tone are typically noticeable after one or two sessions.
Who carries it out
Licensed medical estheticians Shannon Glinsky and Kristen Marucci perform microneedling, Vivace and the PRP facial, in a practice founded by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, who oversees its PRP treatments.

Trust the process! Your lips might not look perfect right after the first appointment—and that’s totally normal! That’s why scheduling a follow-up is so important. I ended up needing a little more, and I couldn’t be happier with the final results! If you’re thinking about Botox or filler, go see Tanya Santoro! She’s thorough, professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and has the most amazing personality. You’ll be in great hands!
