Weight-Loss Injections for Wayne, NJ

A medical team you can sit down with, not a website that ships a box — about 12 minutes up Route 202 from Wayne.

Donna D'Alessio, MD

In person, about 12 minutes from Wayne

Weight-loss medication is easy to find online, often after nothing more than a questionnaire. Montville MedSpa & Pain Center offers Wayne something different: a medical team you can visit, who review your history in the room and keep seeing you while you are on treatment. Main Road in Towaco is Route 202 itself, so from Wayne you simply head north through Lincoln Park to number 624, roughly six miles and 12 minutes away.

What we prescribe

We offer two weekly injections. Semaglutide mimics the gut hormone GLP-1, quieting hunger and slowing how fast the stomach empties. Tirzepatide acts on both GLP-1 and GIP. Neither is handed out on request: a consultation looks at your health, your goals and your medical history first, and settles which medication, if either, makes sense for you.

Side effects, plainly

Most side effects are digestive, mild to moderate, and at their worst in the days after a dose goes up. They can include:

  • nausea, or feeling too full after a meal
  • diarrhea or constipation
  • mild redness or swelling where you inject

Smaller meals, eating slowly, stopping at the first sign of fullness and steering clear of greasy or very sweet food help many people. If symptoms are not settling, we can look at the pace of your dose increases, rather than you stopping on your own.

Call promptly about severe stomach pain that will not ease, signs of dehydration, a lump or swelling in the neck, or any sign of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat.

What a check-in is for

Regular monitoring is built into every plan here. At each check-in we look at how your appetite has changed, how well you are tolerating the medication, and whether the dose, the eating advice or the exercise guidance needs adjusting.

Questions to ask any provider

Wherever you choose to be treated, it is worth asking three things. Where does the medication come from? How often will I actually be seen? Who do I call if I have a side effect?

Wayne patients ask

Should I mention it before surgery elsewhere? Yes. If you have surgery or sedation planned, tell that team you take one of these medications, because slower stomach emptying matters for anesthesia.

Will I lose muscle as well as fat? With any kind of weight loss, part of what goes is lean tissue, which is why your plan includes dietary and exercise guidance, strength work among it.

When are you open? Weekdays, until 7 pm on Tuesdays, plus Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
