The question behind the question
Most people who ask about Botox are really asking something broader: what will make this particular line less noticeable? Sometimes the honest answer is a neurotoxin, sometimes it is a different treatment, and often it is a mix of the two. At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center, sorting out which is the first job of your consultation, before a single injection point is planned.
Botox and Dysport, side by side
- What they share. Both are FDA-approved members of the botulinum neurotoxin type A family, and both stop a nerve from telling a targeted muscle to contract, so the skin lying over that muscle smooths out.
- Where they differ. The two are formulated differently and spread differently once placed, which can change how soon the result appears and which areas each one suits.
- A zone with its own evidence. Dysport has been specifically studied and approved for moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows, where its consistent, even diffusion is an advantage.
- Who chooses. Your injector recommends one after seeing how your forehead, brows and eyes move as you talk, frown and smile, and you are always welcome to ask for the reasoning.
When the line is not a neurotoxin line
A wrinkle relaxer only helps creases that movement makes. If a fold or hollow is still there while your face is completely at rest, it usually comes from volume that has thinned with age, and a hyaluronic acid dermal filler is the better tool for it. Plenty of faces carry both kinds of line, so one plan can include both treatments.
Injectables here are led by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, the practice’s founder, who is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, a specialty centred on muscles, nerves and movement. Nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio and Tanya Santoro inject to the standard she sets, from the facial assessment to the follow-up.
From Mountain Lakes to Towaco
Mountain Lakes borders Boonton, and the quickest way to us runs straight through it. Follow the Boulevard toward Boonton, join I-287 north there and leave one exit later, at Exit 47 for Route 202. In Towaco that road is called Main Road, and our office is about a mile and a half along it at number 624. From the middle of Mountain Lakes the trip is roughly six miles, about 12 minutes without traffic.
Mountain Lakes patients ask
How long does the treatment itself take? The injections take roughly 10 to 20 minutes with a fine-gauge needle, once a consultation has covered your goals and medical history.
When will I know whether it worked? The first softening usually shows within three to five days; give it 10 to 14 days before judging the complete result.
Can anything be refined afterwards? Yes. A follow-up visit once the product has fully settled is encouraged, so any small adjustment can be made at that point.
How long will the smoother look last? About three to four months for most people, depending on the area, the product and how quickly your body breaks it down.
Which days are you open? Monday to Saturday, with Tuesday appointments running until 7 pm and Saturday mornings from 9 until 1.

Testimonials
What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
My 17 year old daughter sees Dr. D’Alessio for hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweat) which for a teenager is emotionally embarrassing. I knew my daughter needed a provider who was able to be sympathetic to her needs and have a caring touch. Dr. D took the time to speak with my daughter and provide a treatment plan just for her. For her initial Botox treatment my daughter was very nervous. Dr. D was, as always, very patient with her and made her experience pain free! We wouldn't consider going anywhere else!
