What nobody can promise you
Weight-loss injections have been talked about so much that it is easy to walk in with a figure already in your head, borrowed from a headline or a neighbor. Nobody can honestly promise you one. How much a person loses depends on where they start, how their body responds, how quickly the dose can be raised and what else changes alongside it. At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center your plan is built around you, not around somebody else’s story.
What the medicine does
Semaglutide copies GLP-1, a hormone your gut releases after meals. Tirzepatide acts on GLP-1 too, and on the receptor for a second gut hormone, GIP. Both turn down appetite, help you feel full sooner and for longer, and help steady blood sugar. Each is a single injection under the skin once a week, and either one is prescribed only after our medical professionals have reviewed your health, your goals and your medical history.
Why the start can feel slow
- The first dose is low on purpose. It is stepped up gradually so your body can adjust and side effects stay manageable, which is also why the early weeks often bring only modest change.
- Side effects can flare briefly after each increase and then settle again. If they do not ease, tell your provider rather than skipping doses.
- The first three months are groundwork. They are for building habits around protein, water, movement and sleep, not for judging the final result.
Measuring more than weight
The scale is only one way to see progress. A waist measurement, a photo taken on day one, how your clothes fit and how often food crosses your mind all tell you something too. Your check-ins look at the whole picture: how your appetite has changed, how well you are tolerating the medication, and whether the dose, the eating advice or the exercise guidance should be adjusted. Sleep is part of it as well, because poor sleep makes hunger and cravings harder to handle.
Mountain Lakes to Towaco
Check-ins are simpler when the office is close by. From the middle of Mountain Lakes we are about six miles away by way of Boonton, I-287 north and Route 202, roughly 12 minutes without traffic to 624 Main Road.
Mountain Lakes patients ask
What happens if I stop the medication? Weight tends to return for many people after stopping, which is why these medicines are generally treated as long term and any change is planned with your provider rather than made abruptly.
Who should not take these medicines? Anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2, and anyone pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Mention any pancreatitis, gallbladder or kidney trouble as well.
Does the injection day matter? Choose one day and keep to it, with a reminder on your phone. If a dose is missed, follow the medication’s instructions or call us, and never take two to catch up.
Are you open on Saturdays? Yes, from 9 am until 1 pm.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
I've had countless massages over the years, but none have ever truly addressed the root of my lower back pain until I saw MaryAnn. Her deep understanding of anatomy and her ability to pinpoint exactly where the pain was coming from made all the difference. Not only was the massage incredibly effective, but it was also one of the most relaxing experiences. Hands down, the best massage I've ever received. I HIGHLY recommend MaryAnn to anyone looking for real relief and true expertise!
