Appetite is biology, not a failure of willpower
People who struggle with their weight are rarely short of discipline. Hunger is driven by hormones, and after a stretch of dieting the body tends to turn appetite up and push back against further loss. The two weight-loss injections we prescribe, semaglutide and tirzepatide, act on that biology rather than asking you to out-argue it.
How GLP-1 medication works
GLP-1 is a hormone your gut releases after a meal. Semaglutide copies it, and in doing so it works on three fronts:
- It quiets hunger at the source, acting on areas of the brain that govern appetite, so many people think about food less and are satisfied by smaller portions.
- It keeps you full for longer, because food leaves the stomach more slowly.
- It steadies blood sugar, helping the pancreas release insulin when you eat, which smooths out the spikes and dips that can fuel cravings.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic®, approved for type 2 diabetes, and in Wegovy®, approved for chronic weight management. Tirzepatide, the ingredient in Mounjaro® and Zepbound®, acts on GLP-1 and on a second receptor, GIP. Both are offered here, and your provider helps you decide between them.
Close enough for every check-in
Regular monitoring is built into every plan, because check-ins are where the dose, the eating advice and the exercise guidance get adjusted. From Lincoln Park our office is in neighboring Towaco, under three miles away — about six minutes without traffic along Route 202 to 624 Main Road.
Who it is for
Weight-loss injections generally suit adults whose BMI indicates overweight or obesity, who have struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise, who are ready to commit to a healthier routine, and who have no medical reason to avoid them. For reference, the FDA approval for Wegovy covers adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol. Your consultation decides whether either medication, or neither, is right for you.
Lincoln Park patients ask
Is semaglutide the same thing as Ozempic? Semaglutide is the active ingredient in both Ozempic and Wegovy. The two brands differ in their approved uses and doses.
Can I combine this with other care at the practice? Some patients do. Weight-loss injections sit within our wellness services, and people also ask about hormone replacement therapy for men and women or body contouring as part of a wider plan.
Are you open on Fridays? Yes, from 9 am to 4 pm, and on Saturday mornings from 9 to 1.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
We drive over 50+ miles to come see Kristen, particularly. I can’t say enough good things about her, the results, and the experience she makes when we come into this spa. Thank you for always going the extra mile for my two daughters and making us feel like we are at home away from home after having such a long drive. Definitely worth the money and the trip! The staff is also always very friendly, allowing me to switch appointments when I need to, and they are always so kind when I call. I am a picky customer, it is hard to make me happy. Definitely recommend this MedSpa!
