From the falls to Towaco

Totowa’s name comes from the Native American name for the Passaic Falls in neighboring Paterson, said to mean “sinking or falling water.” The borough was carved out in 1898 from parts of Wayne Township and the old Manchester Township, and the quickest way from Totowa to Montville MedSpa & Pain Center still passes through Wayne.

The drive, turn by turn

From the center of the borough, Union Boulevard takes you to Route 46 heading west. After about a mile, bear right for Route 23 north, then leave it at Mountainview Boulevard in Wayne. That road turns into the Boonton Turnpike, which is Route 202, and carries you through Lincoln Park into Towaco, where the same highway is called Main Road; our office is at number 624. OpenStreetMap’s routing puts the whole trip at about eight and a half miles, or roughly 15 minutes without traffic.

Bring the question, not the treatment name

Most people arrive knowing what bothers them rather than what the fix is called. These are the questions we hear, and where each one usually leads:

One physician over all of it

The practice belongs to Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, who is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and was appointed Chief Resident in the final year of her residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She leads the pain care herself and sets the standard for the injector team, nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio and Tanya Santoro; Tanya also brings a focus on testosterone therapy to the hormone program. Facials, lasers and body treatments are in the hands of licensed medical estheticians Kristen Marucci and Shannon Glinsky, and massage is with Maryann Constantino, LMT.

Totowa patients ask

Is there a way to come without a car? Little Falls station, which serves Totowa, is on NJ Transit’s Montclair–Boonton Line, and so is Towaco station, between Route 202 and Whitehall Road. Check NJ Transit’s timetable before you plan around it.

Can I ask about two different things at once? Yes. Mention both when you book a consultation. Because looks, hormones, weight and pain are all handled by one practice, the team can tell you which to tackle first, and neither has to start over somewhere else.

What are your hours? Monday, Wednesday and Thursday run from 9 to 5, Tuesday from 10 until 7, Friday from 9 until 4 and Saturday from 9 until 1. We are closed on Sundays.
