Three things that shape it

• Which areas. Lips, cheeks, the chin and jawline, the under-eye hollows and the folds around the mouth are all treated here, and a plan can cover one of them or several.
• Which gel. The practice mainly uses FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers, and each is designed for a different job. Among the Juvéderm range, Volbella XC gives the gentlest lip change and Ultra XC a fuller one, Voluma XC rebuilds the cheekbones, Volux XC firms the chin and jaw, and Vollure XC and Ultra Plus XC smooth lines and deeper folds. RHA flexes with very mobile areas, and Revanesse Versa was the first HA filler to win FDA approval for dynamic wrinkles and folds.
• How much. The number of syringes comes from your goals and the proportions of your face. Trends are not followed here, and faces are not overfilled.

Upkeep is part of the plan

Hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by the body, so a result is maintained rather than bought once. Most HA fillers last between 6 and 18 months. Lips use filler up fastest, while the cheeks and jaw hold it longest, and Voluma in the cheeks can last 18 to 24 months. A typical rhythm is a fine-tuning visit every four to six months with a full touch-up every nine to twelve, and the under-eye area every six to twelve. Asking about that rhythm at your consultation gives you a truer sense of the cost than one appointment can.

Other ways to approach it

A follow-up one to two weeks after treatment is the moment for small refinements once swelling has settled. If you would rather build volume slowly, Sculptra and hyperdilute Radiesse encourage your own collagen over time, and lines that come from frowning or squinting are better answered by Botox or Dysport. Treatment can be spread into monthly payments with Cherry.

What if I change my mind about the result? Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme, hyaluronidase.

Will it hurt? A numbing cream is applied first, and most modern fillers contain lidocaine as well.
