What years of squinting leave behind
Bloomingdale is a borough of lakes, home to four membership lake communities: Glen Wild Lake, Lake Iosco, Kampfe Lake and the Morse Lakes. Long afternoons on bright water mean a lot of squinting, and every squint, like every broad smile, tightens the orbicularis oculi, the ring of muscle that closes each eye. Over the years its outer edge pleats the skin into the fan of creases known as crow’s feet. Because those lines are made by movement, they belong to a neurotoxin rather than to a filler.
What happens at the corner of the eye
Botox and Dysport are both FDA-approved forms of botulinum neurotoxin type A. Where they are placed, they stop acetylcholine, the nerve’s chemical messenger, from telling the muscle to contract. Injected into the outer part of the orbicularis oculi, a measured dose eases the pull that folds the skin there, so the fan softens and the eyes look more rested. The goal is never a blank stare: the crease is treated, while the smile that reaches your eyes stays yours. How much goes where is decided by the shape of your face and how strongly that muscle works.
Three things the eye area can show
Each concern around the eyes has its own answer:
- Lines that fan out only when you smile or squint. These are dynamic wrinkles, and Botox or Dysport is the tool for them.
- A hollow or shadow beneath the eye that is still there at rest. That usually comes from volume lost in the tear trough, which a hyaluronic acid dermal filler addresses rather than a neurotoxin.
- Sun spots, redness or rough texture on the skin itself. A skin treatment does that job, such as Sciton’s BroadBand Light for pigment and redness or MOXI for texture and fine lines.
Forehead lines and the “11s” between the brows are often treated in the same appointment as the eyes.
Placed with care
Injections are given by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD, the founder of the practice, or by nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio, who came to injectables from cosmetic dermatology, and Tanya Santoro, who has more than 20 years in nursing. Dr. D’Alessio, board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, reviews and oversees every neurotoxin treatment. Near the eyes precision matters most: a slight droop of an eyelid or brow is a rare effect of product that drifts, and anatomy-based placement is how that risk is kept low.
Down I-287 from Bloomingdale
Main Street becomes the Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike and leads to I-287 south. Leave at Exit 47 and turn right onto Main Road for the last mile and a half to number 624 in Towaco: about nine and a half miles, close to 14 minutes without traffic.
Bloomingdale patients ask
How soon will the crow’s feet soften? Usually within three to five days, with the complete effect in place by day 10 to 14.
Can I go straight back to my day? Yes. There is no downtime; just keep your fingers off the area for 24 hours, and an ice pack takes care of any minor swelling.
How long does the smoother look last? For most people three to four months, and the usual advice is to leave at least three months between touch-ups.
When can I come in? On Tuesdays until 7 pm, and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.

What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
Shannon from the MedSpa is absolutely amazing! She took the time to really understand my skin and helped me figure out exactly what it needs. She recommended products that feel incredible on my skin and made the whole experience feel personalized. The room was so relaxing, and everything about the appointment was perfect. I’m someone who usually pushes off getting facials, but after finally getting one done, it was 100% worth it. Overall a 10/10 experience!
