Two body worries that get confused
A bulge you can pinch between your fingers and skin that has lost its firmness or dimpled with cellulite can look like the same problem in a changing-room mirror. They are not, and the MedSpa side of Montville MedSpa & Pain Center treats them with two very different devices. CoolSculpting removes fat but does not do much for loose skin; Venus Legacy firms and smooths skin rather than shrinking a pocket of fat. Knowing which one you are looking at is half the decision.
Cold, for fat that diet and exercise leave behind
CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared treatment based on cryolipolysis. An applicator draws the area in with gentle suction and holds it at a controlled cold for 35 to 75 minutes, depending on how thick the fat is, and the fat cells it reaches are cleared by the body over the next one to three months.
- Suits: people near their ideal weight with localized, pinchable fat and good skin elasticity.
- Common areas: the abdomen and flanks, inner and outer thighs, back and bra line, upper arms, under the chin, and the male chest.
- Afterwards: no downtime, though redness, numbness, tingling or mild bruising is normal for a while.
- Further sessions: spaced four to six weeks apart if needed, with a yearly maintenance visit an option. Treated cells are gone for good, but later weight gain can still add fat, so keeping your weight steady protects the result.
Warmth, for firmness and cellulite
Venus Legacy combines multi-polar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic fields and gentle suction. The heat encourages collagen and elastin, and the suction boosts circulation and works on cellulite. Many patients say it feels like a hot stone massage.
- Suits: men and women of all skin types with mild to moderate laxity, cellulite on the thighs, buttocks or arms, or areas such as the abdomen and love handles.
- A session: 30 to 60 minutes with no downtime.
- A course: six to eight sessions a week apart, with skin continuing to improve for weeks after the last one and top-ups every one to three months.
- Not for: anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with a pacemaker or defibrillator, metal implants near the area, or active infection or skin lesions there.
When the answer is both
Where loose skin sits around a stubborn pocket of fat, combination options may be recommended, and both treatments are carried out by licensed medical estheticians Kristen Marucci and Shannon Glinsky in a practice founded by Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD. Unwanted hair on the body is a third job, handled with laser hair removal.
Denville clients ask
Is CoolSculpting a way to lose weight? No. It is for shaping, not significant weight loss. If the scale is the real concern, ask about weight-loss injections.
How do I get there? Route 46 east to Parsippany, I-287 north to Exit 47, then left on Main Road. About 16 minutes without traffic by OpenStreetMap’s routing.
Could I come by train? Denville’s station and Towaco’s are both on NJ Transit’s Montclair–Boonton Line. Check the timetable before relying on it.
When are you open? Monday to Saturday, until 7 pm on Tuesdays and 1 pm on Saturdays.

Testimonials
What Our Patients Say About Us
★★★★★
My 17 year old daughter sees Dr. D’Alessio for hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweat) which for a teenager is emotionally embarrassing. I knew my daughter needed a provider who was able to be sympathetic to her needs and have a caring touch. Dr. D took the time to speak with my daughter and provide a treatment plan just for her. For her initial Botox treatment my daughter was very nervous. Dr. D was, as always, very patient with her and made her experience pain free! We wouldn't consider going anywhere else!
