A borough named for one of its founders

Essex Fells was incorporated by the New Jersey Legislature on March 31, 1902, from part of what was then Caldwell Township. Its name puts the county together with John F. Fell, one of the partners who bought the land and laid it out as a residential community. The borough counted 2,244 people at the 2020 census, and its older students go on to the West Essex regional schools alongside those from Fairfield, North Caldwell and Roseland. Fairfield, the westernmost of those four, touches Montville Township, and Montville MedSpa & Pain Center is a few miles beyond that line at 624 Main Road in Towaco.

Getting here

Leave the borough northward on Roseland Avenue, County Route 527, and turn west when you reach Bloomfield Avenue. Where it meets Route 46, carry on only as far as Hook Mountain Road, make the short jog along Horseneck Road, and take Pine Brook Road north into Towaco; Whitehall Road then brings you out on Main Road at our door. The trip is about ten miles, roughly 21 minutes without traffic, and you park on site.

How often you would make the drive

Twenty minutes is worth knowing about in advance, because some treatments here are a single visit and others ask you to come back.

• Once, and again whenever you like: the HydraFacial and our other facials, a 60- or 90-minute massage, or a first consultation about something you cannot yet put a name to.
• A short course: microneedling and Vivace RF microneedling usually run three to six sessions, four to six weeks apart, Venus Legacy six to eight a week apart, and laser hair removal a series spaced weeks apart.
• A few times a year: Botox and Dysport every three to four months for most people, and dermal fillers fine-tuned every four to six months, with a fuller touch-up every nine to twelve.
• An ongoing program with check-ins: hormone replacement therapy for men and women, with repeat labs; weight-loss injections, with regular reviews; and non-surgical care for back, neck and knee pain, including PRP joint injections and vein treatment.

The people behind each of those

Dr. Donna D’Alessio, MD founded the practice and is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She completed her internal medicine internship at SUNY Downstate before her residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and she now leads both the pain care and the injector team, here and at the sister practice in Bedford Hills, New York. Nurse practitioners Amy Natalicchio, trained by Allergan, Merz and Galderma, and Tanya Santoro, whose particular interest is testosterone therapy, inject alongside her. Licensed medical estheticians Kristen Marucci and Shannon Glinsky handle skin, laser and body work, Maryann Constantino, LMT is the massage therapist, and Ana Marie Heredia-Levi, RVS, RVT works with Dr. D’Alessio on vein care.

When can I come in? Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 to 5, Tuesday from 10 until 7, Friday from 9 until 4, and Saturday mornings from 9 until 1. Sundays are closed.
